This was part of a nationwide company restructure that will result in jobs losses by the end of the month. The union representing the state's Telstra workers said it was working with the company to find work for them in other areas of the business.
A handful of positions are set to go in Ulverstone, Scottsdale, Queenstown and Penguin where there are already small workforces. Community Public Sector Union regional secretary Zac Batchelor said the union had sought to find work within Telstra for workers in the latter four locations but it would require them to relocate if successful.
He said in order to save jobs, the union was negotiating with Telstra to upskill and transition workers to other areas of the business to replace anyone on the workforce who wanted to take a redundancy. Home News Local News.
